Sri Lanka has an unpredictable climate: one week it’s raining cats and dogs, or it can be dry for weeks. This makes our agricultural project a real challenge. Our agricultural project is that we are on our way to making Home of Hope more sustainable by producing our own coconut, banana, and pepper trees, dragon fruit and vegetables. Alfy is very happy with the donation we received from the AFAS Foundation, which he has used to install a good irrigation system. With this system, the excess water is channeled in the right direction and a “drip” has been put into place for the crops. This way, they will grow and bloom even in times of drought. Above, you can see a picture of the good harvest of the pepper trees, for personal use and for sale.
