The latest development is the increased involvement of the entire community around Home of Hope in the care of our children: family members, government, teachers, and caregivers. Everyone is being held accountable for their responsibilities. Sharmini, together with our pedagogue Jessica Blokker, is organizing a training program for the family members of children living at Home of Hope. When family situations have broken down and children are placed at Home of Hope, it can be beneficial to provide pedagogical training to the remaining family members in case a child may one day return to their family. Our new Empowerment and Activity Center provides a multifunctional training space for this purpose, which is also open to parents of children attending the special school. These parents receive training to better understand and care for their children. “Empowerment” is a top priority at Home of Hope!
